Hello! This is my creative critical reflection. I had fun making it and thinking into dept about the thought process and production of the project. Enjoy!

AICE Media Studies Final Task - Til Death do Us Part

Enjoy our movie! It was a struggle every step of the way and developed into something made from sweat, tears, and blood. That being said, I hope you enjoy and see our vision through it.

And the critics say...

When we sent our short film to Ariel, she thought the concept of vampires in love is not a new one, but that we added a unique twist to the idea that kept me engaged for the two minutes . Ariel’s opinion not only meant a lot to Elena and Mary because s he was critiquing and giving feedback on our film. But because she is our friend. We wanted her too genuinely like it. A fter watching the film, she had a list of pros and cons. Things she thought we did well and some things we could improve upon. The pros were that she thought we had good angles, nice lighting, our costumes and the drama. The con was the audio. She said that the angles we chose to use for each of our shots fit. That even though they were simple we weren’t trying to overpower our work. A s for the lighting she complimented us on our ability to work as the sun was setting. This was something we only had so much control over but we did it really well. As for our costumes, she thought that they fit our vi

Finding people to help film, set up, and most importantly be in this video was not a challenge this go around. We learned who can help us and who is never av ailable . Mary oversaw finding people to help us with this task and it was surprisingly not hard. We chose Emma because she is in our class period and a friend of Mary’s . As for Kai it was a bit of a last-minute decision. Kai is in college now and Mary never really gets to see them. They were trying to think of a way to see each other because Kai was coming down for spring break! So, Mary suggested that they come to film , it ended up being a really good idea . They played the role quite well. Mary had asked the group two weeks before to ensure that they could come. Mary basically stole Kai for Sunday night, but they were okay with it.      However, there was one issue. Emma wasn’t sure on she would get to M ary’s. Emma and Mary ended up working something out. Mary was going to pick Emma up from work since her job

Editing: Ye Saga doth continue

After making ch an ges to the crucial scene series, we continued to cut. A second here, and second there, speed up the ending while you’re at it. We finally hit one minute and fifty-nine seconds; just enough wiggle room. After the timing was 100% good, Elena continued to line everything up. She had to recenter the unsheathing, weapon, and scary sound to where they were before . She also added the ominous music entitled “ fright sound ” during the confrontation between vampire hunter and Aurelia. This is also the same sound effect used when Mara kills vampire hunter. We also added a heartbeat sound to show that Aurelia is sc ared when she sees who it is, which adds to the mood and ethos of the film. Searching to find all the right sound effects, lining them up, and figuring out when they should fade in and out was time consuming. We only have ourselves to blame since we are perfectionists.         We added a transition for the two ending shots and got the music ready. Mary sen

Editing Struggles

After Sophie sent the shots in order to Elena’s email, she uploaded them on to Capcut . It took a bit longer than usual due to the increase in number of clips that had to be uploaded. After it was uploaded, she trimmed down the scenes to when they looked like start and end by just looking . This had to be done to the best of her ability as it was on the scho ol computer with no sound . This step had to be redone at Elena’s home computer when she could actually hear when there was a “go” at the beginning and when the dialogue ended. After clips were trimmed , she realized a few were missing and Sophie sent the rest to her . Elena took the time to trim and volume control these additional clips. Then Elena volume leveled by raising up the volum e on several clips so that they were all relatively the same volume. She also used the volume leveler button on capcut and added a “dagger being unsheathed ”, “ weapon smashing ”, “and “strings suspense” sound affects around the

Gaining the right to copy right to a song honestly is a bit of a headache. The creator we originally wanted to feature was surpassingly hard to reach out about obtaining the right to copy righted material. The song we originally wanted to use is called Aline by Jarvis Cocker a British singer/song writer who began his career in 1978. Before putting out solo work he was in different bands throughout is career. Aline is a song entirely in French. We believed that it would be a good fit for our short film because the Vampires do know the language. However the song would work nicely after being put over the time where the vampires waltz . One very notable part of his career was playing the lead singer in “Wired Sisters” band in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Mary attempted to look for a way to contact the artist however was unsuccessful in her efforts and may have accidentally contacted the BBC.... how is happened well Jarvis Cocker had a Sunday Show on BBC which had an e
