Creative Critical Reflection

  1. 1. Our product challenges convections by reinventing that music can be. Music isn’t just a collection of notes and sounds; it’s a collection of the passions of humankind. Music truly transcends words and I think our commercial encapsulates that meaning of music and its full emersion of the human soul. This product also represents the issue of needing music to escape an ugly reality. Many teens have such a horrible life in school and at home, which is why they rely on music as their form of escapism. The full emersion mode of air pods can really help someone who is going through a time that they need to escape.

  1. 2. Our product engages with the audience by using colorful visuals and passion. People love passionate and energetic commercials that draw their attention. We completed this by utilizing colorful lights, techno and futuristic themed costumes, and un upbeat song choice. Realistically, this commercial would be distributed as ads on YouTube, TV, and the Super bowl.

  1. 3. My production skills have definitely improved during this experience. I have past experience with making edits of my friends and I on Cap cut, but nothing to this extent or professionalism. During the process I learned about how to get proper camera angles, develop storytelling, the use and meaning of lighting in media, and how to not forget to wear part of my costume for a shot. My partner and I extremely underestimated how much work and organizing went into creating a professional piece of media. One important lesson I learned was the importance of resourcefulness and using what props, skills, and settings you already have.

  1. 4. Technology was a big part of this commercial. It is a commercial about an advanced piece of technology, so it was bound to be used a lot during the process. My partner and I used flashlights from our phones and color changing LED light strips to create our desired lighting. We used phones to record shots and play music while filming in order to stay on beat. After filming, we used the Cap cut software to edit and bring our image to a single concise creation. Cap cut helped us shorten up shots, speed up certain shots, insert and muffle music, and insert text.
