Vintage Monday

On Monday November 21st we committed murder. Just kidding, it was for the video. Anyways, during the thanksgiving break we thought we would knock out all of our filming in two days with help from our friends. We planned to do some scenes at Elena’s house on Monday and the majority of the scenes on Tuesday at Mary’s house. We needed two people to help on Tuesday, but 1 person cancelled, and we couldn’t find another. So we continued to just film on Monday for the time being; this is how it went.

At 2 pm Elena’s friend, Costanza, came over to help and Mary shortly after. After introductions were made and the dog stopped barking, Mary went to change into her costumes and Elena laid out the comforter. Then, we were figuring out how to tape the phone to the ceiling to filming to first over the head shot, but the scotch tape wasn’t strong enough and fell down. Then we decided that it was best that Elena held the phone over Mary while she acts. It was also very difficult leaning over far enough to not get toes in the shot while not falling over. The shot took a couple tries as Mary kept laughing while acting like she was “asleep”. We then moved onto to the next shot which was a medium shot of Radio Star getting ready. This required another costume change for Mary and a debate of which shirt and tie to use occurred. During this time Constanza was on Elena’s phone taking photos as her help was only needed during the end. We then lined up Mary for the shot, so the plain blue wall was shown and not the countless posters around the room. The shot took one try as it was just Radio Star putting on a jacket. Then we set up for the low angle shot which involved Elena laying on the floor (uncomfortably) and Constanza touching her with her shoe. It took a bit of fiddling with how far away and how much angled up the camera should be before we found our sweet spot. It took a while to review the shot and have to set up all over with the same angle and distance.
